Artist Statement:
The color red exists because our brains tell us that a particular spectrum of reflected light is correctly defined as this shade. Our brains did not always know this. This is what they were taught to do. A circle is a circle because we say it is so. The same is true for a triangle or a square or any other shape or color or any random concept of your choosing. They are merely inventions born of society's endless need to define and label. My artwork is an attempt to breakdown this system, to disassemble the world around us and present it again in an entirely new and generally unrecognizable form.
Each project I undertake begins as an experiment at some level. I may have a final outcome in mind (though things rarely end as I entirely anticipated) but more often than not I start with a vague idea and the thought "well, I wonder what would happen if I did this." The pieces develop and grow as the experiment progresses. We all learn together.
Also I draw comics, because life can be absurdly hilarious.
